Food and clothes banks, emergency utility funding for families, Christmas present donations, free products to counter Period Poverty
Stars and Sparkles Foundation recognises that there are high levels of deprivation in Peterborough and the effects of poverty on young families in the city cannot be underestimated. The Foundation is committed to alleviating poverty within communities and our member volunteers work tirelessly to support families in need of emergency help:
Food donation hubs spread across the city provide emergency supplies for young families, while clothing banks deliver baby clothes, school uniforms and winter coats to families in need.
Emergency utility funding is available within 24 hours to families needing help with essential services in their homes to provide the basics such as electricity, gas, and water for their young children.
Special donation hubs are set up across the city in the winter, enabling families to provide their children with Christmas gifts and essentials for family Christmas celebrations, which can be a time when families living in poverty are at their most vulnerable.
Free Products and information regarding Period Poverty are widely distributed across the city, enabling women and young girls to access much needed supplies discretely and with dignity every time they need them.
